Philosophy – Special Features, Brief history
Yarra Valley Grammar School was originally a coeducational school for boys, founded in 1965 before it was transformed into a coeducational school in 1978. The school provides students with an extensive curriculum, including several extracurricular activities such as sports, drama and music for example. The school places great emphasis on both academics and activities to ensure students are developed in more than one aspect. Students at the school will have the opportunity to discover their hidden talents and specialize in them, with the help of committed teachers and staff.

Curriculum and Qualifications
Yarra Valley Grammar School is divided into 3 sections:
- Junior School is open to students from Kindergarten to Grade 6.
- Middle School is open to students from Grade 7 through Grade 9.
- Senior College is open to students from Grade 10 through Grade 12
Entry requirements for overseas students
International students will be evaluated before entering the school. All students must pass an examination to determine their English proficiency. Students are also required to pass the school’s English Orientation Course before starting classes.
Academic Achievement / Other Notable Achievements
Each year, 40% of Year 12 students under VCE are ranked in the Top 10% of Victoria. Many students from the school continue onwards into universities to pursue their undergraduate careers. Students were accepted into the University of Melbourne, Monash University, Deakin University, RMIT University, La Trobe University and many more. Additionally, 25% of students scored more than 90 points in their ENTER examinations as well.
Accommodation
The school will assign specific homestay families to match the needs to the students. Students are required to stay with the homestay family for at least 6 weeks.

The school offers counselling services to students in regards to school studies, pathways to university, resolving personal conflicts to immediately resolving health concerns.
