Philosophy

St Leonards School is an outstanding academics school that offers both day and boarding programs. The IB results of students from St Leonards School in the Sixth Form are higher than global average. The school accepts students between 12 to 19 years old. Although the school building is designed traditionally, the school offers modern facilities to aid in students learning under a safe and warm environment.

Curriculum and Qualifications

Students ages 12to16 years old are taught in preparation for GCSE and IGCSE or Pre-IB examinations. The IB (International Baccalaureate) is a diploma, which is considered a pre-university certification.

St Leonards is the only school in Scotland that focuses on high school students in the Sixth Form courses 100% only for the IB Diploma.

Philosophy

Philosophy

Farlington is an all-girl with optional boarding for students who lives too far for daily travel to and from school. The school offers classes from nursery all the way to high school. Farlington places importance on the development each and every child and design classroom activities with that in mind. Students are encouraged to express themselves and their abilities through music, art, stage performances and sports.

The school dorms are comfortable and students have the option to say in groups of six or in a single room. After homework and other school assignments are complete, students spend time doing various activities with each other. Field trips in the evenings and during weekends are also frequently held.

Curriculum and Qualifications

Year 7 to Year 9 students are taught the national curriculum. There are a variety of subjects to choose from and students will get to learn together in small groups. The school offers many different subjects to choose from, however, Year 7 and Year 8 students must all learn French, Spanish and Latin.

In Year 9 and year 10, students study the GCSE subjects. There are a total of 12 subjects students would study.

Farlington School offers a wide range of subjects for the Sixth Form. Besides academics, students also engage in activities to develop self-expressions, the arts, music, drama and participate in various sports and well as volunteer activities (community services) and participate in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award project.

Most foreign students at the school would be attending EAL (English as an additional language) on all levels as well.

Harrogate Ladies’ College was founded in 1893 as an all-girl school with an extensive history in academic excellence, sports, music and the arts. In 2010, the school was ranked the best of all of the school sin England for A-Level. Currently, there are 340 students enrolled from 20 different countries around the world. More than half of the student in Year 7 to Year 13 stays at hostels. Year 13 students stay at a more independent hostel called the Tower House which has a large relaxation area and modern kitchen and private bedrooms for each student. Each villa would also have a teacher and an assistant who heads the living quarters and closely overseas the well-being of the students. There are also 4 nurses permanently stationed to care for students’ health.

There are currently 22 GCSE subjects offered and 28 A-Level subjects. The school was awarded in 2012 in recognition for its excellence in the School of Accounting, Economics and Psychology. GCSE courses are taken in Years 10 and 11. English, English Literature, Maths, Science (Single Science or separate Biology, Chemistry and Physics), French and Religious Studies (short course) are core subjects and girls select their remaining optional subjects from those on offer, giving a total of 9 or 10 subjects.

Optional subjects at GCSE include: German, Spanish, History, Geography, Economics, Drama, and Art and Design, etc.

In Sixth Form, students normally study 4 subjects to AS level and continue with 3 of these to A level.

Curriculum and Qualifications

Adcote School for Girls teaches many different subjects and fields. Besides GCSE, the school also offers IGCSE and various extracurricular activities for students to participate in such as Art, Design, Textiles and Sports. These activities promote students’ creativity, ambition, responsibility and compassion towards others. Most students in the Sixth Form study 4 subjects in the AS Level (first year of the A-Level course) and then go on to choose 3 subjects for A2 (last year of the A-Level course).

Academic Achievement

At Adcote School for Girls, we take pride in our outstanding results as well as the quality of the experience our pupils get as a result of studying at a truly traditional and unique British Boarding School. This year, almost 90% of Adcote pupils have achieved the equivalent of at least 5 passes at grades A*-C in their GCSE and iGCSE results.
